The arrival of three Women's Land Army girls to replace his enlisted farm hands is not what Farmer Whitlow expected. He is resolved to get rid of Shirley, Jenny and Daphne as soon as possible... but they are equally determined to stay!

The Land Army girls find they have a lot to learn. When they are given a flock of sheep to shear by Farmer Whitlow, the lads of the village are more than willing to help them, but at a price!

The villagers of Clayfield set sail in their small boats to help rescue beleagured British troops from Dunkirk. Farmer Whitlow is very anxious that his two sons are rescued - otherwise the girls will be doing the hay harvest...
4. Sons and Lovers, God Forbid
Eric and Roy's designs on some extra-curricular fun are curtailed by the vigilant scrutiny of their father. Shirley has issues with their daily diet, which seems to be a never-ending mountain of bacon and ham.
5. We Shall Fight Them In The Breeches
Farmer Whitlow loses his rag when his sheep come under attack by an army unit on manoeuvres. Lady Bramston rounds up a bunch of unlikely suspects for her 'Dad's Army' and appoints Whitlow as their NCO.
6. All Is Somehow Gathered In
Farmer Whitlow shifts into slavedriver mode as he begins to anticipate the best harvest in years, but he becomes furtive when a dubious looking character tries to rope him into some shady dealings.
