Marie Fages Biography
Marie Fages is a filmmaker, artist, and scenographer, graduated of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (2011) and EnsAD in Paris (2013). She develops a practice inspired by the places she has lived in and passed through — La Réunion, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Berlin — as well as by encounters with singular individuals, to bring forth forms of emancipation that emerge from the crumbling of dominant narratives.
Through experimental cinema, she creates sensorial forms inhabited by mythical figures in motion and transformation. Her work explores the power of imagination to open spaces for transformation and freedom. Her films have been presented at numerous international festivals, including the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (Montreal), the International Festival of Films on Art (Montreal), the Champs Élysées Film Festival (France), the Tehran International Short Film Festival (Iran), the Cairo Video Festival (Egypt), and the Beijing International Short Film Festival (China).
