1. Episode 1
April 2016, Tehran. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is seized at the airport and separated from her baby daughter. Accused of spying, she is falsely imprisoned in Iran. In London, her husband Richard comes to the awful realisation his wife has been taken hostage. Richard is told to stay silent, to be patient. He refuses. Richard decides the world must know. He must go public.
2. Episode 2
Nazanin, 64 days into her imprisonment in Iran, clings to sanity by scribbling secret notes. Her despair deepens, but another brief, agonising one-hour reunion with her daughter Gabriella gives her the strength to keep going.
3. Episode 3
Nazanin's solitary ends and she finds solace among fellow inmates; in London, a careless comment from an MP risks derailing Nazanin's case; Richard and Nazanin make an agonising family decision.
4. Episode 4
Nazanin, still imprisoned, is heartbroken when her daughter returns to the UK; Richard must learn to be a dad again and decides to go on hunger strike to get his wife home.
5. Episode 5
Richard's 21-day hunger strike brings global attention but seemingly little progress. As his health fails, he feels unsure what to do next. In March 2022, after six harrowing years, Nazanin is told she can return to the UK, but not before being forced to sign a false confession. Nazanin lands in the UK, where she is reunited with Richard .
