Battle Frontier Plot
The territory might be familiar, but even Ash and Brock can find more than a few surprises in their home region of Kanto, like a Pokémon Ranger hot on the cases of two Legendary Pokémon! May’s back on the Contest path, blazing a trail to the Kanto Grand Festival, while Ash seeks out the hidden facilities of the Battle Frontier. If finding them wasn’t hard enough, he’s still got battles with the Frontier Brains to deal with—much tougher than any Gym Leader he’s ever faced.

Battle Frontier Episodes
1. Fear Factor Phony
Ash and friends wander into a ghost town, where they try to help settle a dispute between a group of Ghost-type Pokémon and a group of Psychic-type Pokémon.
2. Sweet Baby James
When May's Munchlax gets sick, Ash and friends seek the help of a kindly couple who specialize in healing Pokémon...and who just happen to be James's Nanny and Pop-Pop!
3. A Chip Off the Old Brock
After Brock's Mudkip evolves into a Marshtomp and causes some trouble, Ash and friends befriend an elderly medicine-maker and help her assistants fight off Team Rocket's thieving advances.
4. Wheel of Frontier
At the Battle Arena, Ash battles Frontier Brain Greta for his second Frontier Symbol!
5. May's Egg-Cellent Adventure!
May helps the daughter of a family of Pokémon Egg ranchers start her own Pokémon Contest journey, and receives her own Pokémon Egg as a thank-you gift.
6. Weekend Warrior
May competes against a former rock'n'roll guitarist and band leader in the Silver Town Pokémon Contest for her second Kanto ribbon!
7. On Olden Pond
Taking a break from Ash's training regimen to do a little fishing, our heroes help a young woman keep the ownership of her family's lake from a land developer.
8. Tactics Theatrics!!
At the Battle Dome, Ash challenges Frontier Brain Tucker, a master of both battle tactics and showbiz savvy, for his third Frontier Symbol.
9. Reversing the Charges
On their way to the Battle Pike, Ash and friends meet a supercharged Elekid who's on a rampage, attacking everything in sight--including Max!
10. The Green Guardian
The Mythical Pokémon Celebi has been injured in the forest, and Ash and friends, along with a Pokémon Ranger, nurse Celebi back to health.
11. From Cradle to Save
On their way to the Battle Pike, our heroes come across a Pokémon ninja school, where they help the students rescue their Pokémon from Team Rocket's clutches.
12. Time Warp Heals All Wounds
At an abandoned train station, May meets a woman who lost the love of her life thanks to a sad twist of fate.
13. Queen of the Serpentine
At the Battle Pike, Ash must further hone his on-the-spot strategy skills to defeat a soft-spoken, fierce Frontier Brain named Queen Lucy and win his fourth Frontier Symbol.
14. Off the Unbeaten Path
After arriving on Potpourri Island, our heroes discover the Pokémon Orienteering competition just about to take place and decide to enter, vying for the coveted Pokémon Teamwork medal!
15. Harley Rides Again
In the Wisteria Town Pokémon Contest, May discovers she is to compete against her old rival Harley.
16. Odd Pokémon Out!
As our heroes continue toward May's next Pokemon Contest, Ash's Grovyle finds itself nursing a crush on Nurse Joy's Meganium!
17. Spontaneous Combusken!
After meeting a new Coordinator named Brianna who's a fan of hers and an even bigger fan of Drew's, May discovers she must battle her in order to win her third Pokémon Contest ribbon.
18. Cutting the Ties that Bind!
After a frustrated Sceptile runs off into the forest, Ash and Pikachu go after it and run into a swarm of angry Beedrill--and the next Frontier Brain!
19. Ka Boom with a View!
It's time for Ash's next Battle Frontier challenge: a battle in the impressive outdoor arena at the Battle Palace, against Frontier Brain Spenser!
20. King and Queen for a Day!
On their way to Ash's next Battle Frontier challenge, our heroes come across a couple of Pokémon TV stars who aren't feeling well, so Brock's Bonsly and James's Mime Jr. act as stand-ins!
21. Curbing the Crimson Tide!
After hearing stories about many Trainers and Pokémon being defeated and taunted by a mysterious talking Pokémon known as Red Lightning, our heroes decide to find out what's really going on.
22. What I Did for Love!
When Brock meets up with a lovely Pokémon breeder who used to be a Coordinator, she talks him into competing against May in the Gardenia Pokémon Contest!
23. Three Jynx and a Baby!
On their way to the Battle Tower for Ash's next challenge, our heroes come across a cute little Smoochum who is fiercely guarded by three Jynx, and Ash has to convince them he's on their side!
24. Talking a Good Game!
On their way to the Battle Tower, our heroes meet an amazing person who seems to be able to communicate with Pokémon by sensing their feelings...and more surprises await!
25. Second Time's the Charm!
After losing to Frontier Brain Anabel, Ash buckles down for some unusual special training--and Anabel joins him! Can he defeat her in the rematch?
26. Pokémon Ranger! Deoxys' Crisis!
After witnessing strange behavior from several kinds of Pokemon on their way to Pewter City, our heroes and Pokemon Ranger Solana encounter an electromagnetic disturbance, which leads them to the discovery of a troubled Deoxys!
27. All That Glitters Is Not Golden!
On their way to Ash's final Frontier Battle and Brock's hometown of Pewter City, our heroes discover a wandering golden Sudowoodo and the estranged Trainer who caused its unusual coloring.
28. New Plot, Odd Lot!
May is going after her fifth Contest Ribbon to qualify for the Grand Festival, but when her shady rival Harley teams up with Team Rocket, things don't look good!
29. Going for Choke!
After a shaky start in the Mulberry Pokémon Contest, May makes it through to the finals, where she goes up against "Jessebella"--Team Rocket's Jessie in disguise!
30. The Ole' Berate and Switch!
After a squabble causes Jessie and James to part ways, they team up with fellow Team Rocket agents Butch and Cassidy for a Poké Ball-swiping scheme!
31. Grating Spaces!
Upon arriving in Pewter City, our heroes learn that Brock's old Gym is being remodeled by none other than Team Rocket in disguise, and Brock and Ash must battle them to put a stop to it!
32. Battling the Enemy Within!
In the ancient ruins beneath the Battle Pyramid, Ash is mysteriously possessed by the spirit of an ancient and evil king, who challenges Frontier Brain Brandon to a battle for all of his Pokémon.
33. Slaking Kong!
On their way to the Grand Festival, our heroes help a berry farmer reclaim his stolen crop.
34. May, We Harley Drew'd Ya!
As the Grand Festival gets under way at the Indigo Plateau, May has her hands full trying to compete with the best Coordinators in the world, including Harley, Drew, and new friend Solidad!
35. Thinning the Hoard!
The Grand Festival is going strong as May faces down one impressive competitor after another!
36. Channeling the Battle Zone!
May faces Drew in the quarterfinals of the Grand Festival, and the two seem to be very evenly matched! Can May come out ahead?
37. Aipom and Circumstance!
On their way to Ash's rematch with Brandon at the Battle Pyramid in Fennel Valley, our heroes come across a village taking part in the annual ritual of choosing a king, and Ash's Aipom becomes a most unwilling candidate!
38. Strategy Tomorrow - Comedy Tonight!
Our heroes meet an aspiring comedian named Audrey and her showbiz sidekick and Pokémon partner, Chatot.
39. Duels of the Jungle!
Our heroes find themselves embroiled in Pokémon politics as two Weavile face off for leadership of a group of Sneasel!
40. Overjoyed!
When our heroes arrive at the Battle Pyramid for Ash's battle with Brandon, they discover a Nurse Joy who's a big fan of Ash and May!
41. The Unbeatable Lightness of Seeing!
After their recent defeats in important matches at the Battle Pyramid and the Grand Festival, Ash and May are feeling a little down, until several old friends come together to support them.
42. Pinch Healing!
When Nurse Joy becomes too ill to take care of the Pokémon Center, our heroes pitch in, coming to the aid of a Pokésitter and his charges after a bus accident.
43. Gathering the Gang of Four!
Ash prepares for his final rematch with Brandon at the Battle Pyramid by rounding up the Pokémon he's been with the longest, spending his time sharing old memories with them and training intensely.
44. Pace - The Final Frontier!
Ash has lost to Brandon in two previous battles, and now his Charizard has been defeated! Can he battle back to claim the final Frontier Symbol?
45. Once More with Reeling!
Ash has beaten the Battle Frontier, but his competitive spirit won't let him rest for long, and he and May both sign up for an unofficial Pokémon Contest in Terracotta Town!
46. Home Is Where the Start Is!
After one last contest battle between Ash and May, our heroes go their separate ways, and Ash discovers his next adventure!
