However, they were chased and caught by Praethong, who in his rage killed Meun Khiri. Having witnessed the death of her lover, Praethong committed suicide. The two dead lovers were buried together under a Takian tree. Hundreds of years passed, however, Praethong could not enter the rebirth cycle due to committing suicide.
