A teenage girl discovers a portal through time and tries to help two children of the past overcome their unhappy lives, in this beloved adaptation by Helen Cresswell.

1. Episode 1
Tragedy strikes on the first day of Minty's summer holiday and begins a chain of events that leads her back in time and into a desperate struggle with witches, evil spirits and maybe the devil himself.
2. Episode 2
Minty meets Sarah, a mysterious hooded child from the house, and sees for herself the miserable life that Tom leads as a kitchen boy.
3. Episode 3
Minty desperately tries to warn the children of the arrival of a ghost hunter in the village.
4. Episode 4
The sinister Miss Raven comes to stay at Aunt Mary's, and Sarah's terrible secret is revealed.
5. Episode 5
Minty and Tom witness the cruel game that Miss Vole plays with Sarah.
6. Episode 6
Minty and Tom set out to rescue Sarah from Miss Vole's clutches ... but it is Hallowe'en!
