Hum Paanch - Season 1 (1995)

Anand Mathur goes on a hunger strike until Kajal, the fourth daughter, apologise for her behaviour. But both of them agree to compromise on a deal worth INR 1500.

Beena is not at home. Meenakshi has to run the house. As the maid Sakkhu Bai's husband has beaten her, Meenakshi calls the Mahila Mukti Morcha to help her.

Chhoti's gossip makes the Mathurs buy a lottery ticket. Anand daydreams about their win and their lack of safety in such a situation. However, his family wins a paltry INR 100.

Radhika reads an article about warring couples loving each other a lot. She and her sisters try to create rifts between Anand and Beena. The matter soon goes out of hand.

Meenakshi is in Nagpur and her sisters are picnicking. Anand and Beena's alone time is interrupted by Beena's mother Durga's surprise visit. The girls plan to get rid of her.

Durga and Rama, Anand's first wife's mother, gossip about the bad image of the Mathurs. The girls make fun of Rama. Rama swears to take revenge and bring the girls on track.

Radhika decides not to wear the hearing aid, because of which Anil misunderstands that she loves him. He gives a love letter to Kajal and Choti and asks them to hand it to Radhika.

Anand's friend Pankaj comes to his home. Anand gets to know his love story. Radhika, Sweety, Chhoti and Beena return home. Beena is delighted to see Pankaj, her long-lost friend.

Anand is jealous of the way Beena is treating Pankaj. Anand's first wife backbites about Beena and Pankaj's closeness. Beena and her daughters get angry with Anand.

Chhoti informs her family that Pandey Uncle has been promoted. Anand invites his boss Popatlal for dinner, to which Popatlal agrees. A major misunderstanding is in store for them.

Chhoti tells Pooja about her husband Sunil buying a gajra. Pooja is in the Mathur house. Sunil searches for her everywhere. Sunil locks himself up in his house.

Sweety gets a bouquet and gift from a stranger on her birthday. Someone calls her up and imitates Shahrukh. The stranger wishes Sweety in the dark in her house and vanishes.

Meenakshi suggests sending Sweety to her maternal grandmother's home. Sweety goes to meet the stranger, thinking that he is Shahrukh Khan, a Bollywood actor.

Durga finds a prospective groom for Meenakshi. Radhika, Sweety and Kajal ask her to see the man. Mr Kapoor comes with his son Mohan, who mistakes Beena for the prospective bride.

Sweety signs a modelling contract and gets INR 5000 for endorsing a brand linked to nighties. Her family members accompany her for a photo shoot. But trouble is in store for her.

Chetan, Pooja's brother, is upset as Sunil is in Khandala. The Mathurs give him shelter but doubt his identity. Popatlal visits the Mathur house to check if Anand is ill.

The families of Beena's brother Mohan and Anand's sister Sarita visit the Mathurs. Anand and Beena find it hard to manage them. The gossip at night alters their plan to stay there.

Chhoti tells her kin about a raid in their area. ACP Kaatre searches for Taklya, a deadly shooter. The police interrogate the Mathurs and arrest Anand. But they release him later.

Radhika suggests making an Ouija board to call the spirits. Durga sends a letter complaining about Chhoti. Anand's first wife reminds him about their 25th wedding anniversary.

Anand's first wife's spirit is summoned by the Mathur girls. She complains that Anand does not love her. Kajal has a plan to recreate the love story. The girls boycott Anand.

Radhika passes her exams but has to get a job in order to support her family. She starts a coaching class and earns INR 3000. An argument starts between Radhika and Kajal.

Kajal collects funds for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. A man from the municipal corporation comes for demolishing an illegally erected mandap.

Anand's first wife reminds him of his and Beena's 17th wedding anniversary. His daughters plan a surprise party. Someone interrupts the celebration.

The pandit, Bhootnath's father, who got Beena and Anand married, was an actor. Anand is heartbroken and asks everyone to leave. Anand's first wife asks him to remarry Beena.

Anand and Beena are shocked as Sweety behaves like Meenakshi, Meenakshi behaves like Chhoti, Chhoti behaves like Radhika, Radhika behaves like Kajal and Kajal behaves like Sweety.

Kajal is in love with Govinda, a Bollywood actor. Anand gets a call from Govinda's brother to ask if they can come and talk about Govinda's wedding with Kajal.

The doorbell rings and there stands Anand in a new avatar. Later, they come to know that he is Raju, Anand's twin brother. The Mathurs have another unexpected visitor.

The Mathur girls are surprised to see Anand's uncle Dadaji, who is a lookalike of him and Raju. Anand's Chacha wants to bring the family on track. The guests annoy the girls.

When Gopi, Beena's dance teacher, is harassed by a few men in the park, Kajal saves her. Gopi is smitten with Kajal. Meenakshi and Sweety discuss Gopi and Kajal's marriage.

The Mathur girls plan to buy gifts for their parents on the occasion of Diwali. They collect money in their own way and gift their parents a suit, sari and gold bangles.

Radhika gets her salary and gives INR 1000 to Anand. Anand taunts the girls. Beena, Radhika and Anand's first wife get angry with Anand. The Mathur girls start searching for jobs.

Minakshi goes for a job as a gym supervisor. Sweety goes to the feminist's office for an interview. Kajal goes for the interview of a news reader at a TV station. Anand has the last laugh as the girls lose their jobs on the first day.

The girls plan to hold an awards ceremony. They inform Anand that they are starting a new company, AMCL. The girls rope in Sattar Bhai as a financier for the show.

Anand and Beena get to know that the venue of the awards ceremony is their house. Beena and Anand confront the girls. On the day of the ceremony, chaos reigns.

Popatlal waits for Anand to take his daughter Babli to his home. Babli wants to elope with her boyfriend and marry him. The Mathur girls plan to let her escape and wed her beau.

Kajal assures her sisters that they will own a car and a bungalow soon. Anand hears Kajal talking to Kadar Bhai, a gangster, on the phone. Beena assures Anand about Kajal's safety.

Anand wins a contest and gets to go on a dinner date with Rekha, a Bollywood actress. Beena faints, and everyone is in shock. A fight starts between Beena and Anand.

Anand tries to convince a sulking Beena to talk to him. But Kajal and Meenakshi interrupt. Sweety introduces Gopi, who has come from Pune to search for his father Anand Mathur.

Chhoti summons Khushwant Singh Chaddha to decorate the new house bought by the Mathurs. As Chaddha starts decorating the house, he throws Anand's first wife's photo frame.

The Mathur girls plan a house-warming party. Chhoti suggests commercialising the party. Anand is happy with the idea. Anand calls Beena and then Chhoti to ask about his socks.

Chhoti behaves differently after returning home from school. Everyone is worried about her and decides to consult a psychiatrist. The Mathurs plan to send Chhoti to Ballia.

Chhoti is in Ballia, where she recalls that she was Meena Kumari, a Bollywood actress in her previous birth. The people of Ballia are worshipping her. Mathurs go to Ballia.

Chhoti reads about a man hanging himself to death. Anand tells his daughters that he will give INR 1000 to anyone who proves that he is not a fearless person.

Anand asks Beena to give the names of their daughters to a marriage bureau. Later, they come to know that the bureau is run by their daughter Sweety and Popatlal's daughter Babli.

Sweety plans to open a clinic, which will provide laughter therapy to the patients. The Mathur girls ask Anand to give INR 2000 to open the clinic.

Sweety is searching for Bollywood actress Shahrukh Khan's address in the telephone directory. Kajal suggests that she contact a magazine's editor.

The girls propose a weight-control plan for their parents, which includes a strict and bland diet. Anand vainly tries to cheat by ordering food from the canteen.

Sweety returns with MF Haantain instead of MF Hussain. The girls plan to use him to become rich and famous. They ask the man to make paintings, which they plan to sell.

Anand brings Suresh Sippy, his childhood friend to his home, who is in search of a fresh subject for his next movie. The Mathurs get to know that Sippy doesn't have a producer.

Chhoti talks about a three-headed witch, who is roaming on the streets of Mumbai. Anand is asked not to open the door at night. But he says that he fears no one.

Anand's first wife tries to fool him. Beena enters, and Anand informs her that it is April Fool's Day. Anand decides to protect himself from getting fooled by his daughters.

Sweety tells Anand about a man, whom she has selected as her prospective groom. She asks Anand and Beena to take the marriage proposal to his parents.

The Mathur sisters try to figure out the reason, which makes their plans unsuccessful. Radhika concludes that the plans have failed because they thought only about themselves.

The Mathur girls decide to leak the board exam question papers, for earning money and to help the students. Sweety tells the plan to her parents after Anand starts doubting Kajal.

Anand is happy until his first wife starts talking to him. When the Mathur girls come up with the news of actress of Rekha's affair, he becomes sad.

The Mathur girls, along with Kadar Bhai, kidnap Akshay Kumar, a Bollywood actor. Beena and Anand faint on seeing Akshay in their house. Anand asks the reason behind the kidnapping.

Amidst the ongoing chaos in the Mathur household, Anand's first wife's sister Rajni visits them. Tension brews in the family due to the closeness between Anand and Rajni.

Beena is worried about Anand and Rajni. The girls plot to send Rajni back. After receiving a fake telegram for Rajni, Anand and Rajni laugh and reveal their plan.

Pooja is worried for her sister who has been admitted to a hospital after being abused by her in-laws and husband. The girls agree to help her and plan to teach her husband a lesson.

With Mamta in the house, the girls decide to send Meenakshi to Anil’s house to teach him a lesson. Anil and his mother try to intimidate her, but Meenakshi responds accordingly.

Anil and his mother are exhausted due to the trouble created by the Mathur family. They pray for Mamta to come back home. She finally arrives after they ask for her forgiveness.

As the Mathur girls lead a boring life, they plot a quarrel between Pooja and Sunil. Meanwhile, Chaudhary Ji and his wife visit them, bringing news for Chhoti, Meena Kumari's incarnation.

The Mathurs and their neighbours arrive for the inauguration. The temple gets ruined when Ganga and the priest are caught eloping. Seeing this, the Mathurs also flee the site.

Babli tells Sweety about a sage who can help her get married quickly. Sweety invites him home. The sage senses Anand's first wife's spirit and suggests getting rid of it.

The spirit-removing ritual is held at 7 pm. Anand tries helping his first wife but he can't. After the ritual, Sweety accidentally sets the spirit free.

As Beena and Anand quarrel, Manorama comes to Meenakshi for help against her husband. The girls make a plan and trick Murli into fleeing from Manorama's house for good.

Anand doesn't agree with the girls' decision to launch a political party of ruffians. Their first political meeting is interrupted when someone knocks at their door.

The members decide the party's name and the logo, and make Anand their representative, regardless of his lack of interest. On the day of the election, Anand tricks them.

The Mathur girls visit Anand's boss Batliwaala to convince him to grant leave to Anand for bringing Meenakshi home from the jungle. Sweety impresses Batliwaala.

Batliwaala adopts Sweety in spite of the Mathurs' hesitation. But she misses her old family and annoys him to such an extent that he decides to return her to the Mathur family.

The Mathur girls plan a monsoon budget. Anand doesn't give them money, which troubles him. Later, he gets a message from God, who announces the day of his death.

Anand is doubtful whether the revelation was a dream or real and informs his family about it. They try to complete his last wishes. Two days later, he gets shot in the shoulder.

The Mathur girls complain about not having a brother and demand one. Though Anand disagrees, Beena backs them. They go to an orphanage to adopt one.

There is a new competitor, Chanda, for Kajal in town. They plan a duel to know who is stronger. It is a tough fight. One of them loses and leaves that area for good.

The Mathurs look for a maid to help Beena in her work. While Urmila refuses to work at their place, Narayan lays down certain conditions that the Mathurs have to agree to.

Narayan is hired as the servant for the Mathur household to reduce Beena's workload. But he annoys everyone in the family. They try different ways to get rid of him.

A runaway from the mental hospital is staying with the Mathur family. No one knows he is dangerous, except Chhoti. Finding the right moment, she calls the police.

Anand reminds his daughters of poor kids, who don't get a chance to celebrate Diwali. So, the girls make a plan to collect money for such kids and make them celebrate the festival.

A time machine transports the Mathurs to the past. They get caught for trespassing and face trial in Akbar's court. They win against Birbal. Sweety demands that Salim marry her.

Sweety is transformed into a pigeon due to a curse. The Mathurs come back to the present time with Chhoti's help. Anand's dead wife helps convert Sweety back into the human form.

Anand consumes alcohol to get a contract signed for his hospital. Inebriated, he walks into Pooja's house, creating havoc for everyone.

Anand's drunken behaviour creates havoc. The next morning, his first wife's spirit makes him realise his mistake. Anand begs for forgiveness and vows never to touch alcohol again.

The Mathur girls set up a low-priced stall of sweets for Diwali for the poor people. Subsequently, the girls expose a fraud and decide to sell the sweets for free.

Sweety's application to participate in a beauty pageant gets rejected. So, the Mathur girls plan to hold another pageant, Miss Galaxy, to cheer an upset Sweety.

The Mathur girls implement a new parliamentary proposal at home that declares Sunday as a day for men to do domestic chores. Anand's behaviour compel them to change their decision.

Anand slaps Chhoti on her back because of which she stumbles and claims that she cannot see anything. The worried Mathurs consult a doctor who is not of much help.

The Mathur girls challenge Pooja that Anand notices everything about Beena's appearance. They give Beena a makeover to test their claim.

Kajal dreams of Sweety getting married. Beena's father, her brother, Anand's boss and a marriage bureau's owner choose prospective grooms for Sweety.

Sweety grapples with the reality of having to choose one out of the four prospective grooms. However, Raman Kumar, Anand's friend, also wants his son to marry Sweety.

The Mathur girls mess with a dangerous goon. He breaks into their house to take his revenge on the girls. He gets murdered in the process. The police come to know about it.

Beena quarrels with Anand for not buying her gifts. But they panic when Pooja's expensive necklace, which she leaves with Beena, gets stolen from the Mathur house at night.

Sweety steals the necklace from Beena's cupboard but loses it again. The Mathurs decide to pay back Sunil the cost of the necklace, but are shocked when he reveals its truth.

Beena, backed by the Mathur girls, goes on a hunger strike to protest Anand's refusal to declare his assets. He tries to convince her to end the strike, but she doesn't agree.

A gang of robbers kidnaps Anand after he declares his assets. The Mathurs also go through an income tax inspection. Finally, he reveals his original assets.

Mathur girls start a new show called Baap Ki Adalat, where Anand is the judge. During the first case of the court, a fight breaks out between Laalwani and Hazare.

During a cleanliness drive started by the municipality, Anand gets fined by an officer for no reason. The girls hear about it and decide to teach the corrupt officer a lesson.

On Anand and Beena's wedding anniversary, they plan to go to the disco. But they aren't allowed to enter. The girls hear about this and decide to teach the disco manager a lesson.

After Anand refuses to give them extra pocket money, the girls decide to earn for themselves. They start an advice centre, which runs well at first, but problems arise later.

Anand fears hair loss and asks the girls to help him prevent baldness. The girls suggest an ayurvedic oil, but the results turn out to be different from what Anand expected.

Raj visits the Mathurs and claims that Beena is his wife. The girls and Anand get worried and plan to make Raj admit his claim is fake. The plan works, and he tells them the truth.

In the 21st century, the Mathur girls are married. They visit Anand on his 75th birthday. Kajal gets a call from Kadar Bhai, who is plotting to take revenge on her for jailing him.

With her X-ray vision glasses, Lolo sees the bomb which Kadar Bhai has planted in Anand's 75th birthday cake. The Mathurs panic. Anand's first wife urges him to give her the bomb.

Rekha Vartak, the MD of Vartak Pharmaceuticals, asks Anand to marry her. But he refuses and says that his family wouldn't let go of him for money.

Rekha visits the Mathur family with her offer to buy Anand as her husband. The girls and Beena accept the offer. However, the next morning, Rekha's plan backfires on her.

The girls plan to change their surname to Kapoor to become famous. Anand tries to convince them not to do so after being reprimanded by his dead father. But they do not relent.

The Mathurs are now 'Kapoors'. This creates trouble for Anand later as the enforcement department interrogates him over the issue of illegal transactions.

The girls plan a trip to Kashmir. But Anand meets with an accident at the last moment, which leaves him bedridden. The girls wonder whether they would be able to go to Kashmir.

The Mathur girls participate in a talk show, which debates whether girls or boys are more important. They teach Mr Jaitley, a patriarchal participant, a lesson.

The Mathur girls fix a wrestling match between Anand and Gajraj. Anand is anxious about it. As he gets thrashed by the wrestler, Anand's first wife helps him.

The Mathur girls start a new magazine, which mainly prints gossip. Though all the copies are sold, some lawyers want to meet Anand as the magazine contains incorrect news.

The girls are angry with Anand for not respecting their decision and leave his house to stay at Raju Bhai's house to help him deal with his annoying neighbour and boss, Mr Sahni.

The girls teach each member of the Sahni family a lesson for troubling Raju's family. They also agree to go back to their house when Anand acknowledges their good deeds.

Sweety is in love with a pandit and wants to marry him. Anand is sceptical about it and calls the pandit home, only to realise the bitter truth about him.

Kajal is all ready to go to Dubai for work and help Anand by reducing the financial burden on him. But her travel agent turns out to be a fraud. She has to cancel her plan.

The Mathur girls decide to produce a music album with Kadar Bhai and his gang members. Anand raises a false alarm about the police's arrival, and the gang members flee.

Radhika casts a spell on Anand and he is transported to a warehouse, where gangsters plan to kill someone. His daughters look vainly for the magic book to get him back.

The girls want to make Anand a world-record holder. He is stressed about living in a glass box with scorpions to achieve the record. Anand's first wife tells him a trick to escape.

Kadar Bhai asks Kajal to help Rocky. The girls send Meenakshi to deal with Sridevi. Instead of being intimidated, Sridevi is impressed by her and accepts her as Rocky's wife.

Sridevi refuses to let Meenakshi go back home. She opposes Rocky marrying his girlfriend. The girls trick Sridevi and Makhan Singh to let their children marry each other.

Pooja brings Gogi to live with the Mathurs for a couple of days. She wants to hide him from some dangerous men. Both Radhika and Sweety fall in love with Gogi.

Kajal gives Radhika and Sweety time to decide about their feelings for Gogi. While they plot against each other, the goons arrive at the Mathur house to kill Gogi.

Gogi's parents meet Anand to seek Gogi's marriage with one of the Mathur girls. But Gogi surprises everyone with his choice. An angry Kajal scares Gogi and his parents away.

The girls stage Anand and Sunaina's affair to revive Beena and Anand's romance. Beena gets suspicious due to the phone calls. Beena is angry with Anand.

The Mathur girls' plan works. Anand and Beena behave lovingly with each other. The girls are happy to see the change in their parents. They commence stage two of their plan.

Anand is heartbroken after Sunaina says that she doesn't want him to come back to her. The girls and Beena try to cheer him up and eventually plan on getting Anand married to her.

Chhoti doesn't win the 'Best Student' award. The girls organise another award for the worst teacher. They change their view when they realise the truth.

Sweety decides to write her own novel based on her life after being inspired by Arundhati Roy. The publishers, however, refuse to publish a book that has plagiarised content.

The girls create trouble in the society and for Mr Pange, its secretary. When they refuse to apologise, an annoyed Anand threatens to give up his family and live like a hermit.

Anand wanders into a cave as a hermit and stays with a goon in the garb of a hermit. On locating him, his daughters, Beena and his first wife try to bring him home by irking him.

Chhoti gets Mr D'Souza home to help him get his stolen wallet back. When they hear about the kids not celebrating Christmas, the girls plan to collect money for the kids to enjoy.

Radhika mishears Anand's instructions. The girls end up receiving a goon instead of Anand's colleague. Anand and the girls get kidnapped due to this, but Beena rescues everyone.

The girls, along with Kadar Bhai, start a security agency to offer people protection. Their company runs well until Kadar Bhai brings actress Anarkali, who requires a bodyguard.

Anand is appointed as Anarkali's bodyguard against his wishes. Kadar Bhai tells the Mathur girls about an impending attack on Anarkali. Anand's first wife saves them from a bomb.

Anand walks out of the house after challenging his daughters that they cannot live without him. But he misses them. Pandhari Dada gives him an idea to return to his house.

Anand returns home as Gangubai, the new maid. Kadar Bhai and Pange are mesmerised by her. Anand gets worried after overhearing a conversation between Beena and Pappu.

While Anand tackles Kadar Bhai and Pange as Gangubai, Beena considers divorcing him. When the girls ask him to sign the divorce papers, Anand gives up his act.

Sweety finds a correspondence course to attain a doctor's degree and is adamant on becoming one. She starts studying for the course with Babli's help in spite of Anand's refusal.

Sweety becomes a doctor and sets up her clinic to treat patients. But the police come to know about these fake medical degrees and arrive at the Mathur house to arrest her.

The girls hear about Baba Baal Brahmachari and the negative views he spreads about women from Pooja. They are enraged and plan to make him change his views and respect women.

The Mathur girls start an acting school under Anand's name in their house. But the school shuts down the very day it starts when a student slaps Meenakshi as she explains acting.

Martians have landed on Earth to congratulate 'Hum Paanch' on their success. But scientists and countries globally get this news. A raid is planned on the Mathur house.

The baby Martian stays back on Earth. His parents are on their way to take him back while the Mathurs and Kadar Bhai struggle to keep him safe tackling the doctors and police.

It is April Fool's Day. The girls go around the town fooling people. But Sweety gets dejected when they reject princely marital proposals, thinking them to be a prank.

A robber disguised as a salesman hears about Sinha's wealth from the Mathur girls and robs Sinha. He sends a stolen necklace to the Mathurs to thank them. Anand gets arrested.

The Mathur girls decide to help Abhijeet get married to Beena's sister, Rajni. They let him stay at their house and make plans so that he can impress Rajni.

The Mathur girls try different ways to help Abhijeet win Rajni, but Mithilesh interferes and spoils their plans. Abhijeet finally pretends to be dead and wins Rajni's heart.

Anand gets a complaint from the society about the misbehaviour of his daughters. The girls show him the reality, and he realises the truth that his girls are well-behaved.

Anand is annoyed with Chhoti for starting a fight between Mr and Mrs Chhadha. He is shocked by the marriage proposal of Viren and Sonu for Chhoti. Whom will Chhoti choose?

The girls organise a poetry contest to help Riyaaz Bhai select a writer for his music company. Anand wins the contest. Riyaaz Bhai gets arrested by the police.

The Mathur girls are shocked to know the expensive rates of mangoes. They plan to loot a fruit godown with Kadar Bhai and provide mangoes to the people who cannot afford them.

The girls, along with Kadar Bhai, Beena, and Anand plan to loot. But the police arrive at the godown and thwart their plan. Anand's first wife helps them escape.

Anand's first wife wishes to leave the house because neither he nor the girls remember her birthday. She stays back when Beena remembers it and organises a pooja for her.

Anand scolds his daughters without any reason. The girls feel that Anand is getting cranky with old age. As a solution, they decide to make a pill. Sweety tests the pill on Anand.
