A stranger named Smith confesses to having sinful, criminal thoughts, which places the young Priest in an ethical conflict.

Bookie returns to complete her confession; the Priest springs a surprise on his grandmother.
5. Thy Will Be Done
Smith's mother visits the confessional, demanding to know the nature of her son's confession and railing against the Catholic church.
6. On Earth as It Is in Heaven
A young husband confesses he is contemplating divorce; but the Priest is distracted that he recognizes him from a dream. The Parish Prelate reveals a secret about himself to the Priest.

The Priest visits a doctor for his insomnia and hears the confession of a nun who may be his ally or foe.

The Priest sees a specialist for his insomnia and hears a final confession from Bookie who fears her time is nearing an end.
9. As We Forgive Those Who Trespass Against Us
Smith confesses a revelation that alters the Priest's opinion of him and Novalea gets a surprise visit from Mrs. Smith.
10. Lead Us Not Into Temptation
The Priest is called upon to learn to perform the sacrament of Last Rites.
11. Deliver Us from Evil
Novalea loses her patience with the Priest, and Smith returns to the confessional booth with unsettling news.

The Priest receives a house call from Agnes while recovering, and the Prelate urges the Priest to undergo medical treatment.
