Carnaval Globeleza RJ - Special Group 2024 (2024)

Special Group 2024 Plot

The 2024 Rio de Janeiro Special Group parades took place between February 11th and 12th, 2024, at the Marquês de Sapucaí, with exclusive broadcast on TV Globo. The schools in the Special Group in 2024 were, in order of presentation: Unidos do Porto da Pedra, Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, Acadêmicos do Grande Rio, Unidos da Tijuca, Imperatriz Leopoldinense, Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Portela, Unidos de Vila Isabel, Estação Primeira de Mangueira, Paraíso do Tuiuti, and Unidos do Viradouro. The grand champion was Unidos do Viradouro, with a theme about the cult of the serpent and the army of female warriors of the Kingdom of Dahomey. The other champion schools were Imperatriz, Grande Rio, Salgueiro, Portela, and Vila Isabel, and the school relegated to the Gold Series was Unidos do Porto da Pedra.

Porto da Pedra will bring to the Avenida a parade about the Perpetual Almanac: The Prophecy of Popular Knowledge, paying homage to the teachings of the book by the Spaniard Jerónimo Cortés.

2. Beija-Flor - Special Group (Rio de Janeiro) - Full Parade from February 11, 2024

Beija-Flor pays homage to the Ethiopian prince of Alagoas carnivals and the city of Maceió in the theme "A Carnival Delirium in the Maceió of Ras Gonguila".

3. Salgueiro - Special Group (Rio de Janeiro) - Full Parade from February 11, 2024

Salgueiro parades through the Sapucaí with the theme Hutukara, which represents, through indigenous mythology, a defense of the Amazon and the sacred aspects of nature.

Grande Rio parades with the theme "Our destiny is to be a jaguar" and follows the mythical narrative of Alberto Mussa's book about the symbolism of the jaguar in the Brazilian landscape.

Unidos da Tijuca brings to the Sapucaí a theme that addresses, in "The Fado Tale," the history of Portugal through the legends, tales, and mysticism of the country since its origin.

Imperatriz brings mystical teachings to the Marquês de Sapucaí, with a storyline inspired by the small booklet that tells about the discovery of the Gypsy Esmeralda's will.

Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel brings to the Sapucaí a storyline that aims to unveil Brazilian identity through the stories, legends, and curiosities about the cashew fruit.

8. Portela - Special Group (Rio de Janeiro) - Full Parade from February 12, 2024

Portela crosses the avenue with a storyline that retraces the imagined paths of the Black mother, Luisa Mahim, bringing another perspective to the story, based on the book "Um Defeito de Cor" (A Flaw of Color).

9. Vila Isabel - Special Group (Rio de Janeiro) - Full Parade from February 12, 2024

Vila Isabel will revisit the theme from 1993 this year, highlighting the importance of children for a better world, carrying on the values ​​and teachings that followed after the creator fell ill.

Mangueira will parade down the avenue honoring the singer Alcione, with the theme "The Black Voice of Tomorrow," also bringing references to Maranhão, the singer's birthplace.

Paraíso do Tuiuti parades down the Marquês de Sapucaí avenue paying homage to the history and life of João Cândido, the Black Admiral, leader of the Revolt of the Lash.

Viradouro brings to the Avenue a storyline that pays homage to the Serpent Vodun, telling about its power that has manifested itself since epic battles on the West Coast of Africa.
