September 13th, 1976

John Noakes , Peter Purves and Lesley Judd explore one of the world's first commuter waterways 9,000 miles from the Blue Peter studio, and take part in a Hash Chase-a sweltering five-mile slog through jungle and quicksand.

3. Expedition Brunei

In a land of contrasts tribal hunters stalk their prey a mere 100 miles from Brunei's sophisticated natural gas plant. The men of the Punan tribe give John a lesson on their deadly blow-pipes.

4. To Bishop Rock by Chopper

September 23rd, 1976

Lesley returns to the scene of her narrow escape from death-but exchanges the breeches buoy for the new Trinity House helicopter service to the Bishop Rock Light-house.

Blue Peter's trainee pony for handicapped riders goes to the races and joins the VIPs in Tattersalls at Britain's premier race-course.

7. Silver Jubilee Competition

October 4th, 1976

It's over 40 years since Britain's last Royal Silver Jubilee and already preparations for the 1977 celebrations are under way. Today John, Peter and Lesley will be announcing details of a special competition for designing a commemorative picture and the best of all the designs will be picked for the Radio Times souvenir cover. As silver jubilees are so rare, one day this painting might become a collectors' item, so don't miss your chance to enter and win a prize.

John Noakes, Peter Purves and Lesley Judd visit a dentist who mends shoes, fly with 10,000 bats, take part in a Hash Chase through the sweltering jungle and broadcast in Malay on Brunei TV.

George Stephenson's 'Locomotion' thundered along the track between Stockton and Darlington 151 years ago. Today JOHN and PETER go back in time and drive a full-size replica.

12. Brunei's Birthday Bonanza

October 21st, 1976

A fly-past of state helicopters and a procession of stilt walkers and jugglers marked the 30th birthday of the Sultan, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien. JOHN, PETER and LESLEY join the crowds during the celebrations that lasted 40 days and 40 nights.

13. Silver Jubilee Competition

October 25th, 1976

Today you can see the results of the competition to design a picture to commemorate the 25 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and to discover whether your painting has been chosen for a Radio Times Jubilee cover. Art Editor David Driver (seen here with Lesley) who helped to judge the competition, will be in the studio with John, Peter and Lesley to explain how the winning design was chosen and to give some tips to would-be artists.

25. Lifeline Lebanon

December 6th, 1976

As the result of the Civil War hundreds and thousands of children and babies-many of them orphans-are in a desperate condition. Some are badly burned, others have been injured by shells and gunfire, all are suffering from malnutrition and are in need of urgent medical care. Britain has provided the only mercy mission to be allowed into the war zone, but to keep this lifeline going and enable the doctors and nurses to extend their stay, Blue Peter is asking for your old postage stamps and postcards. 300 old stamps or 10 postcards can be sent for the minimum postage rate of 61p.
