7 Creepy Horror Movie Kids That Will Give You Nightmares

October 13, 2017 - 1 min read

Creepy, saucer-eyed kids have been a horror movie staple for decades. Especially lil' Cole "I See Dead People" Singer from "The Sixth Sense." With Halloween around the corner, here are some forever members of the Creepy Horror Movie Kids Club.

Damien in 'The Omen (1976)

Has there ever been a more dead-eyed kid in movies than this scowling Antichrist-on-training-wheels? Others played Damien Thorn in sequels and reboots, but young Harvey Stephens is the one we remember.

Cole in 'The Sixth Sense' (1999)

At age 11, Haley Joel Osment earned an Oscar nomination for playing Cole Sear, the kid who whispered the famous line, "I see dead people." The ghost-tormented boy's haunted, liquid eyes made him look like he'd had his very childhood frightened out of him.

Danny Torrance in 'The Shining' (1980)

One word: 'Redrum.'

The Grady Twins in 'The Shining' (1980)

Stephen King wrote the ax-murdered Grady girls as sisters of different ages, but when the identical 11-year-old Burns sisters auditioned for Stanley Kubrick, the director tailored the roles to them. The ghostly twins haunting the corridors of the Overlook Hotel, chanting "Come and play with us, Danny, forever and ever and ever," are pathologically terrifying.

Regan in 'The Exorcist' (1973)

As demon-possessed Regan MacNeil, the head-spinning, spider-walking, projectile-vomiting Linda Blair was just 13 when she helped make William Friedkin's classic one of the scariest movies of all time.

Carol Anne in 'Poltergeist' (1982)

As the angelic Carol Anne, five-year-old Heather O'Rourke nailed the scariest line in the film: "They're heeere." Pretty soon, "they" are dragging the screaming tot through the portal to hell in her bedroom closet. The suburban scarefest got an extra frisson of horror from O'Rourke's tragic early death in 1988 at age 12.

Samara in 'The Ring' (2002)

Oh we jumped, too, when Samara (Daveigh Chase) -- the vengeful, mop-haired ghost girl behind the killer videotape --crawled out of the TV and into our daymares. The 11-year-old's performance earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
