Iconic '90s Teen Movie Dream Girls, Ranked From Whatever to Da Bomb

The '90s teen movie typically came with a female character who everyone wanted to be with... or just be. These ladies defined the era and some of them changed the way we dressed, acted, and talked forever. Here, we rank a few unforgettable '90s teen movie dream girls, from just "whatever" to mind-blowingly awesome.

11. Nicole Maris, 'Drive Me Crazy'

"Drive Me Crazy" is one of the more forgettable teen movies from the genre's second golden era, aside from the fact that it's linked to the epic Britney Spears song of the same name. Melissa Joan Hart's popularity-obsessed Nicole is kind of a dud, even after hooking up with Adrian Grenier's "edgy" (he has curly hair) boy-next-door.

10. Laney Boggs, 'She's All That'

News flash: Laney Boggs thinks she's better than you. She might wear a falafel hat and glasses (they're code for ugly), but she also does pretentiously awful community theater and reminds you about nuclear waste when you're just tryin' to chillax on the beach.

9. Darcy, 'Varsity Blues'

She gave us the famed whipped cream bikini and changed high school boys' expectations forever, and that was about it. What's going on in there (**points to heart**), Darcy?

8. Nadia, 'American Pie'

Jim filming Nadia without her consent in his bedroom was definitely illegal and would have been investigated on "Dateline," but for some reason she was fine with it. We're intrigued by her open-mindedness, but she doesn't hold a candle to band geek Michelle.

7. Amanda Beckett, 'Can't Hardly Wait'

Jennifer Love Hewitt was definitely one of the most crush-worthy ladies of the decade. Her "Aman-DUH" was a cool gal and certainly more interesting than her friends, but we didn't quite see the depth that Ethan Embry's Preston saw. Eating a pop tart doesn't exactly make her Nietzsche. Besides, Mike Dexter broke up with her first and she was with him for four years. It's not like she's some feminist revolutionary.

6. Kat Stratford, '10 Things I Hate About You'

Speaking of feminist revolutionaries... Kat Stratford is one badass high school student. She might have a tough exterior, but she's unapologetically herself and we can all admit we weep like little babies every time she recites that sonnet. Wedding vows, anyone?

5. Sarah Bailey, 'The Craft'

Sarah has sweet witch powers, a good heart, and she knows how do get revenge right. We would be a part of her coven any day.

4. Sue Ellen Crandell, 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead'

Instead of lazing around all summer, this 17-year-old queen gets an Executive Assistant fashion gig by lying, stealing, and wearing power suits. But she totally kills it and nobody cares about her questionable ethics because she did it all with style. Right on top of that, Rose, indeed.

3. Buffy Summers, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'

Buffy shed her shallow cheerleader ways and became a kickass vampire slayer who gets to kiss Luke Perry. We salute her for making the TV show that followed in her footsteps happen.

2. Corey, 'Empire Records'

Rex Manning day will go down in cinematic history partially due to Liv Tyler's perfect portrayal of tortured empress of cool in a plaid skirt, Corey. She had her demons, but she lived the '90s teenage dream of working in a record store and became a poster girl for Gen X-ers everywhere. That outfit is everything.

1. Cher Horowitz, 'Clueless'

Nobody beats Cher. Cher is the '90s. We owe everything to Cher. Not ranking her at #1 is as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie.
