'House' Cast: Where Are They Now?

By Gary Susman By the time "House" wrapped its eight-season run in 2012, the medical drama was so popular around the world that Hugh Laurie was cited in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most-watched leading man on TV. Yet in the last four years, he's barely been visible on the small screen, while some of his Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital colleagues have been enjoying prominent TV and movie roles. Laurie's back now, however, in a leading role as a villainous arms dealer in AMC's mini-series "The Night Manager" (premiering April 19). And his former "House" castmates? Here's what became of actors who played the prickly diagnostic genius and his beleaguered associates after they hung up their stethoscopes.

Hugh Laurie ('Dr. Gregory House')

Laurie's American accent was so convincing that "House" producer Bryan Singer hired the then-45-year-old without knowing he was English -- even though he'd been a celebrated TV sketch comic alongside Stephen Fry in England for nearly two decades. After "House," Laurie took time off from acting to focus on his career as a blues musician, but he reappeared in 2015 in the movie "Veep." Besides "The Night Manager," Laurie, 56, has another TV starring role lined up, playing another sleuthing doctor in the Hulu drama series "Chance," due later this year.

Robert Sean Leonard ('Dr. James Wilson')

Leonard, who rose to fame with his role in "Law & Order: SVU."

Lisa Edelstein ('Dr. Lisa Cuddy')

Character actress Edelstein came to the attention of the "House" producers via her brief but splashy role in the pilot episode of "The West Wing," and they hired the then-38-year-old to play Dr. Cuddy, House's boss and sometime love interest. After she left the show at the end of Season 7 in 2011, she appeared in guest spots on "Elementary" and "Scandal" and had recurring roles on "The Good Wife and "Castle." Since 2014, Edelstein, now 49, has starred on Bravo's "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce."

Omar Epps ('Dr. Eric Foreman')

Getting cast at 31 as the ambitious Dr. Foreman on "House" wasn't too big a stretch for Epps, who had played Dr. Dennis Gant on "ER" seven years earlier. After playing Foreman throughout all eight seasons, Epps co-starred in the 2014-15 ABC drama "Resurrection." The 42-year-old co-stars in USA's upcoming action series "Shooter" and the big-screen holiday comedy "Almost Christmas," due in November.

Jennifer Morrison ('Dr. Allison Cameron')

Morrison was 25 when cast as by-the-book Dr. Cameron on "House." She left the show in 2010 after six seasons. On the big screen, she went on to appear in the two recent "Star Trek" movies as Capt. Kirk's mother, as well as the movie "Warrior." On TV, she had a recurring role on "How I Met Your Mother." These days, you can see Morrison on ABC's "Once Upon a Time," as she's starred on all five seasons as heroic Emma Swan.

Jesse Spencer ('Dr. Robert Chase')

At 25, Spencer had co-starred opposite Brittany Murphy in the movie "Chicago Fire." The 37-year-old continues to star as fireman Matthew Casey to this day.

Olivia Wilde ('Thirteen')

"The O.C." co-star Wilde was 23 when she landed the "House" role of Dr. Remy Hadley, known to all as "Thirteen" for her number among the doctors auditioning for House's team throughout the Season 4 shake-up. After her four seasons on the show, she had supporting roles in such movies as "Rush," "Her," "The Lazarus Effect," and "Portlandia," "BoJack Horseman," and "Doll & Em." Now 32, Wilde is currently starring on HBO's "Vinyl."

Peter Jacobson ('Dr. Chris Taub')

When Jacobson joined Dr. House's team in 2007, the character actor had enjoyed a brief but memorable scene in "As Good As It Gets" with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and "Madam Secretary." The 51-year-old Jacobson continues to appear in recurring roles on cable dramas "Ray Donovan" and "Colony."

Kal Penn ('Dr. Lawrence Kutner')

Penn (born Kalpen Suresh Modi in Connecticut) may be best known for playing stoner Kumar Patel in the "Deadbeat," premiering April 20.

Anne Dudek ('Dr. Amber Volakis')

2007 was a big year for 32-year-old Dudek: she landed long-term recurring roles on "Mad Men" (as Betty's friend Francine), "Big Love" (as sister-wife Lura Grant), and "House," as conniving Dr. Amber "Cutthroat Bitch" Volakis. She'd been on the show just one year when Amber died in a horrific accident in the Season 4 finale, but she continued to pop up for the rest of the series, haunting House as a hallucination. She went on to recurring roles on USA's "Covert Affairs" and A&E's "Those Who Kill." These days, the 41-year-old Dudek can be seen on SyFy's "The Magicians."
