9 Holiday Movies That Are More Naughty Than Nice

You've got your "Home Alone" and your "Elf," but those are really just child's play when it comes to holiday favorites that pack a more adult punch. Some Christmas movies are more cursing and criminal activity than carols and candy canes. In the spirit of "A Bad Moms Christmas," check out these nine R-rated holiday films that have more naughty in them than nice.

'The Night Before' (2015)

Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play lifelong buddies who set out to find the ultimate Christmas Eve rager. Their raunchy, drug-filled romp through NYC, complete with a Miley Cyrus performance and a creepy dealer in the form of Michael Shannon, solidify the comedy as a new R-rated Xmas classic.

'Go' (1999)

If you're looking for a technicolor thrill ride that is both a snapshot of late '90s rave culture and an exciting crime comedy, "Go" pretty much has you covered. It's become somewhat of a cult classic since its release and, of course, we have the film to thank for helping popularize the 1999 radio banger that was Len's "Steal My Sunshine."

'Happy Christmas' (2014)

In the tradition of Joe Swanberg films, "Happy Christmas" is a slice-of-life snapshot that offers up a realistic portrait of relationships, both romantic and familial. The under-the-radar and low budget gem stars Anna Kendrick in a subtly moving performance, where she plays an irresponsible, aimless 20-something who moves in with her brother during the holidays.

'Trading Places' (1983)

Leave it to Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd to spin a simple story of rich-guy-switches-with-poor-guy into comedy gold. The early '80s fave not only became one of the biggest box office hits of the year, it was a critically-acclaimed award winner that skyrocketed its leads to super movie star status.

'Office Christmas Party' (2016)

Sure, we've seen the whole corporate drones let loose for the holidays thing on "The Office" or "SNL" before, so naturally it was only a matter of time before the whole concept made its way to the big screen. Thankfully, this movie has powerhouses like Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, and Courtney B. Vance to back it up.

'The Ref' (1994)

Denis Leary is the best Christmastime thief since "Home Alone's" Harry and Marv in this out-of-the-box dark comedy, as he bickering married couple hostage. It all unfolds like a twisted familial play, but the cringeworthy moments are worth it for the laughs.

'Die Hard' (1988)

Need we explain? "Die Hard" is arguably one of the best action movies ever created, and possibly one of the greatest Christmas films there is. Watch it over winter break. Watch it any day. Happy holi-yippee-ki-yay-days to you and yours.

'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' (2005)

It's a weird, wry, and wild ride, but this underrated comedy is the noir Christmas caper you didn't know you needed. Nothing says happy holidays like a murder mystery filled with great acting, satirical humor, and enough screwball action to make it wholly entertaining.

'Bad Santa' (2003)

"Bad Santa" has become the standard example of what an inappropriate holiday movie should be. The name says it all. He's a Santa (nice!), but he's bad (naughty!). The conceit seems immature and simplistic, but Billy Bob Thornton and director Terry Zwigoff more than pull it off. We'd leave you with a quote from the film, though we would have to bleep out the majority of it.
