18 Movies That '90s Kids Can't Live Without

They say the music you loved in adolescence becomes the music we love most for life. This must be true for movies in some way, right? We'll always put the movies we grew up with on a pedestal, and if you were raised in the '90s, then these 18 films have a good shot at topping your list of forever faves.

'Home Alone' (1990)

"Keep the change, you filthy animal!"

'Hook' (1991)

If you're in a crowd with a bunch of Millennials, just start chanting "Rufio" and see what happens. Odds are people will join you to salute the heroic Lost Boy from this early '90s favorite.

'Beauty and the Beast' (1991)

Tale as old as time... You know the rest. Hollywood could make a dozen remakes and we'd still have a special place in our hearts for this Disney masterpiece.

'Aladdin' (1992)

The second of five Robin Williams movies that prove the late actor practically owned this decade. 25 years later, this Disney classic still holds up.

'Hocus Pocus' (1993)

Children of the '90s, admit it -- you watch this gem every Halloween and you're excited just thinking about October right now because of it.

'Jurassic Park' (1993)

Not a lot of adventure blockbusters with crazy special effects hold up over 20 years later like "Jurassic Park" does. This is a always a solid go-to if you're at a loss for what to watch on a Friday night. Does the trick every time.

'The Sandlot' (1993)

Friendship, sports, dogs, and tree houses! This movie has it all. Oh, you grew up in the '90s and you haven't seen it? You're killing me, Smalls.

'Mrs. Doubtfire' (1993)

This GIF gets us every time. And if you're not quoting "It was a run-by fruiting" on a daily basis, then you're doing it wrong.

'Clueless' (1995)

What would life be for tweens and teens of the '90s without "Clueless"? We don't even want to know. We can't imagine growing up without Cher's misguided words of semi-wisdom, all the iconic fashion inspo, and the whole new world of high school slang we never stopped using. As if!

'Now and Then' (1995)

Even though it was set in the '70s, this fan-favorite became one of the the premiere coming-of-age summertime flicks of the '90s. Forget the ladies of "Sex and the City" -- We still wonder if we're a Teeny, Sam, Roberta, or Chrissy.

'Billy Madison' (1995)

We're aware that his movies might be considered totally sophomoric, but it's hard to deny the fact that '90s Adam Sandler had a pretty profound effect on the decade's comedic legacy. The concept of a grown man like Billy having to a complete school so he can inherit his dad's company is absurd, but that doesn't mean we'll ever stop quoting him.

'Jumanji' (1995)

Okay, so the children's book this movie is based is a much better story, but just thinking of this Robin Williams joint gives us Stage-10 nostalgia. And as adults, we're really scratching our heads at the whole big game hunter trying to blow kids and townsfolk away with his elephant gun.

'Harriet the Spy' (1996)

If it was the '90s, and Nickelodeon was going to play a part in making a movie, then you knew that movie was gonna be a big deal. This adaptation of the classic 1964 novel had a funky edge that made us wish we were BFFs with Harriet, Sport, and Jamie. More than 20 years later, it still leaves us hankering for tomato and mayo sandwiches.

'Romeo + Juliet' (1996)

How did '90s kids primarily learn about Shakespeare? Movies, of course! The decade saw a flurry of films based on the Bard's classics, and thus, they became the Cliffs Notes for a generation. Every time we hear Des'ree's voice, we're reminded of young Leo and Claire.

'Titanic' (1997)

WHATEVER, ROSE -- YOU TOTALLY DID LET GO! THERE WAS ROOM ON YOUR SELFISH RAFT AND -- ahem, sorry about that. 20 years later, we're still a bit raw about this. Seriously, Rose, he drew you like one of his French girls -- c'mon!

'Flubber' (1997)

You know you still have that old-school, Disney clam-shell VHS case somewhere in your place. It's ok. #Respectyourjourney

'10 Things I Hate About You' (1999)

Speaking of Shakespeare... While "Romeo + Juliet" was true to the original language, "10 Things I Hate About You" certainly had a more modern interpretation of its play. Thank you, '90s, for making learning about sonnets totally cool, even if we get emo every time we think of Kat's (Julia Stiles) epic poem.

'Cruel Intentions' (1999)

'80s babies who came of age in the '90s had so many teen movies to grow up with, but there's a thrilling and wickedly witty sophistication that sets "Cruel Intentions" apart. The cast perfectly represents the young Hollywood A-listers of the time that we loved -- and will always love.
