Anne Hathaway, 32, Says She's Losing Parts to Younger Actresses

At 32 years old, Anne Hathaway isn't exactly nearing her best-if-used-by expiration date.

Still, in Hollywood years, the Oscar winner says,that means she's no spring chicken—and now she's losing out on parts to much younger actresses.

"I can't complain about it because I benefitted from it," she tells Glamour UK's October issue. "When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them. And now I'm in my early thirties and I'm like, 'Why did that 24-year-old get that part?'"

"The Intern" star, which sees her playing opposite Robert De Niro in the comedy, in theaters Sept. 25, concedes that ageism is a double-edged sword. "I was that 24-year-old once, I can't be upset about it, it's the way things are."

Hathaway adds: "All I can do right now is think that, thankfully, you have built up perhaps a little bit of cache and can tell stories that interest you and if people go to see them you'll be allowed to make more."
