12 Hilarious Women You Should Be Watching on TV

These 12 comedic TV actresses take funny to the next level.

Kristen Schaal

Kristen Schaal has had memorable small screen roles in "The Flight of the Conchords" and "30 Rock," but she she's garnering further critical acclaim for her hilarious starring performances as Carol on "The Last Man On Earth."

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

It's no secret that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of the most gifted TV actors of the last three decades. She changed the game on "Seinfeld," continued to make us laugh on "The New Adventures of Old Christine," and now she's created an iconic comedic character in "Veep's" now-President Selina. All hail JLD.

Kaitlin Olson

Kaitlin Olson has played sad-sack Sweet Dee Reynolds on "It's Always Sunny on Philadelphia" for eight seasons now. The fearless actress is a master at slapstick and spins even the most dire, pathetic, and outrageous situations into comedy gold.

Jessica Williams

Jessica Williams is the youngest correspondent ever to grace "The Daily Show" -- and she's also one of the funniest. Her segments are not only hilarious, they're sharp, critical, and deeply insightful.

Kate McKinnon

Yes, she does a perfect Justin Bieber, but that's not the only reason we've fallen for Kate McKinnon. She's proved to be a versatile and consistently hysterical member of the current "SNL" roster through a slew of spot-on impressions and outrageous characters, and her screen time probably won't slow down any time soon considering she does a great Hillary Clinton.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling was a breakout star (and writer) on "The Office" as girly-girl Kelly Kapoor and she's been a leading lady on her own show, "The Mindy Project," for three seasons now. Mindy Lahiri has become one of the most hilarious characters on TV thanks to her fantastically delivered pop culture musings, self-deprecating humor, and unapologetic confidence.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is best known for her role on the beloved series "Girlfriends" (and as Diana Ross's daughter), but she's won our hearts once again playing "Black-ish" matriarch Rainbow "Bow" Johnson. She's more than just a straight man mom to Anthony Anderson and fam -- her humor and magnetic personality come across whether she's delivering a smart line or just giving a look.

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson's "Broad City" was one of the buzziest shows of 2014, and for good reason. The series' second season, which premiered January 14, solidified the crazy duo's place as having the brightest, most refreshing, and most unique comedic voices out there. If you haven't watched the brilliant "Knockoffs" episode, please do yourself a favor and do so.

Carrie Brownstein

"Portlandia" just wrapped its fith season, and we already miss getting to see Carrie on our TV every week. The Sleater-Kinney rocker has proven to be one of the most entertaining comedic actresses out there by bringing quirky and compelling characters like Women & Women First bookstore owner Toni and mustachioed macho man Lance to life.

Chelsea Peretti

There are many, many reasons to be a Chelsea Peretti fan. Her stand-up is fantastic, she played Bobby Bottleservice's ridiculous love interest Farley on "Kroll Show," and she was a writer for "Parks & Recreation." She's currently one of our favorite parts of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," playing dry, mocking, and unfiltered Gina Linetti.

Amy Schumer

If you're not watching "Inside Amy Schumer" then you're missing out on one of the best sketch comedy shows around. Schumer tackles sex, relationships, and social issues with wit and irreverence like nobody else on TV. The provocative series even nabbed a Peabody award, two Emmys, and got picked up for a fourth season.
