Plot
Vesuvius VI (1959) is an early silent short by Martin Scorsese, shot on 8mm with a borrowed camera on New York rooftops. Described by Scorsese as “a private eye in ancient Rome,” it parodies detective tropes through toga-clad antics inspired by 77 Sunset Strip (1958). Screened only once with an improvised soundtrack, it offers a playful glimpse of Scorsese’s first experiments in film.
