Advertiser Madison “Maddy” Swanson and Screenwriter Nicholas “Nick” Ewers live peacefully with each other in the suburban town of Quailville, New Jersey. However, after a rough day at work, Maddy starts to realize that the small-town lifestyle isn’t for her and wants to leave, something that greatly upsets Nick, resulting in an argument that causes Maddy to lose her temper at her boss the next day. She gets fired, angering Nick even further. Maddy then reveals that she secretly found a new apartment in the big city of Biggerton, Maryland, and she leaves without Nick. One month later, Nick feels regretful about his actions, and tries to get her back, but the damage might’ve already been done.
