At the foot of Malanshan lived two twin sisters: the elder, Dalan, was lazy, while the younger, Xiaolan, was diligent. The guardian spirit of the Malan Flower, Malang, accidentally rescued Wang Lao, who had fallen off a cliff while collecting herbs on the mountain. He encountered and fell in love with Wang Lao's daughter, Xiaolan. Dalan, Xiaolan's twin sister, coveted the material pleasures that the Malan Flower could bring and became jealous of Xiaolan. The Vine Monster, who had long coveted the Malan Flower, exploited Dalan's vanity, stole the flower, and intended to dominate Malanshan. However, the Malan Flower would always only bloom for diligent and kind-hearted people. With the concerted efforts of everyone, Malang and Xiaolan finally defeated the Vine Monster.
