Plot
Deena has lost her father, and with him, any sense of calm. Trapped inside a crowded house brimming with relatives, rituals, and unspoken family tensions, she aches for something simple: a moment alone. But solitude proves impossible to find. Each corner of the wake brings a new interruption—a whaling associate, screaming children, the endless demands of cultural/social expectation. Armed only with her restlessness and her vibrator, Deena sets out on a clumsy, urgent quest for release. What begins as a pursuit of pleasure quickly spirals into something deeper, as grief, shame, and desire collide in unexpected ways. Darkly funny yet achingly intimate, La Petite Mort is a meditation on how we mourn, how we cope, and how even our strangest, most secret impulses can remind us of the messy, beautiful humanity we all share.
