Life seems to be kind to criminal psychologist Cathrin Blake: a tender love affair has developed from the acquaintance with the charming Matt. Professionally, however, Cathrin faces a tricky case: A year and a half ago, the renowned psychologist Helen Bell disappeared without a trace.

The German-born police psychologist Cathrin Blake lost her balance after her husband disappeared without a trace and became an alcoholic. She lives with her adult son, who, like his father, has become a police officer. After she was able to overcome her addiction, she returned to her job, but no longer with the police.
