By chance, Sugawara no Michizane becomes acquainted with Ariwara no Narihira, the head of the police and judicial chief. Thanks to the cooperation of Shoki, an obstinate female shopkeeper who deals in Tang Dynasty goods, Michizane gradually draws closer to solving the mystery.
