Recently, Island’s work received Academy recognition as the composer and sound designer for the live-action short “The Singers” (SXSW 2025), which was named to the 2025 Oscar® Shortlist. Island’s approach to media composition is holistic; he often blurs the lines between score and sound design to create immersive, atmospheric environments.

His deep understanding of sonic narrative comes from a prolific career in rock music. This extensive history on the world stage gives him a unique ability to translate raw energy into nuanced cinematic scores, bringing a performer's intuition to every project he scores and designs. Based in Los Angeles, Island continues to push the boundaries of how sound and music elevate the story.
