Andrés Carry Biography
Andrés Carry is a Colombian filmmaker and writer known for his contemplative, symbol-rich storytelling that explores the boundaries between the human experience and the fantastical. He is the director of the 2023 short film Memento Mori, which was showcased at independent film festivals including Festival de Cortos Psicoactivos, Resistencia Films Cinema Festival, Festival de CineCorto de Medellín, and Festival La Última Escena in Ecuador.
In addition to his work in film, Carry is an award-winning author. In 2022, he received the Best Fantasy Narrative award for his acclaimed fable The Ballad of the Gleaming Field, later published by Ita Editorial. His work often delves into themes of loss, perception, and emotional resilience through poetic and atmospheric narratives. In 2024, he was invited to speak at Corferias during the SOFA convention, where he presented on fantasy storytelling and coping mechanisms, further establishing his voice within Colombia’s emerging creative landscape.
